When you’re expecting—especially as a surrogate—you’re already being mindful of what goes into your body. But what goes on your body matters, too. And with summer sunshine heating things up, protecting your skin (and that gorgeous baby bump!) becomes even more important.
Pregnancy hormones can do some pretty wild things, like making your skin more sensitive and prone to pigmentation. Add the Texas sun into the mix? You’ve got a recipe for potential sunspots if you’re not careful. The good news? There are plenty of pregnancy-friendly ways to stay sun-safe without sacrificing comfort or style.
What to Look for in a Sunscreen
Your best bet? A broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. You want protection from both UVA (aging) and UVB (burning) rays. Mineral-based sunscreens—those made with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide—are often preferred during pregnancy. They sit on the skin (instead of sinking in), making them a great choice for more sensitive mamas-to-be.
